Contributing to the design system
In team, we developed the internal design system of Veepee, based on MUI (React). On this project I was one of the main interface with the tech team
Defining and designing the components
With the designers, we adapt the MUI library to our requirements
Writing guidelines
We then define the guidelines and states for the components we want to use in the design system
Handoff and organise the work with the development team
Once the design are validated, me and another designer were in charge of creating tickets to prepare the development of the components and specify its constraints
Team sync
Every two weeks we were doing meeting between designers and developers in order to review the tickets and pending points
Building the Storybook
Once we agreed with the tech team, they created the component and it’s implementation and documentation can be seen in a Storybook where we define the properties that should be used
Creating documentation
One other important part was the communication and the ease of onboarding on the design system. We created documentation and workflows to help users know how to use the design system. Also we were doing presentation and helping directly the teams
